The Farmville Herald

Join other volunteers at Sailor's Creek Battlefield Historical State Park on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. to help restore an important segment of the battlefield to its natural setting.

Help remove bottles, tires, scrap metal tools, implements, and other trash from a wet weather creek that runs behind the visitor center. In the process, earn volunteer hours, meet like-minded volunteers in the public interest, and have lunch on the park.

Participants should wear old clothes, closed toed shoes, hats, sunscreen, and bug spray. Gloves, tools, and all other necessities are provided. This event is weather dependent; the rain date is the next day, Sept. 30, at the same time.

This is event #24 of the park's ACW History Education Program, 2012 (A Battlefield Preservation Event). For more information contact the visitor center at 804-561-8123.
