Twin Lakes Notes Labor Day Events

Twin Lakes State Park announces Labor Day Weekend programs:

Friday, August 31, 4 p.m., “Creature Feature” – learn about one of the park's many amazing creatures; 6 p.m., “Family Game Night” – board games, card games, puzzles and more; 8 p.m., “Make New Friends Campfire” – make new friends, sing songs, hear stories, and enjoy s'mores;

Saturday, Sept. 1, 10 a.m., “Buggin' Out” – bug around the park and learn about some crazy critters; 11 a.m., “Canoeing 101” – start with the basics, fee for the program is $5 per person, $4 per person for groups of 4+, meet at Goodwin Boat Ramp; 2 p.m., “Story Hike” – hike through a story, finding a new page the further you walk; 4 p.m., “Crafty Campers” – crafty at the Nature Nook, fee: $2 per person; $6 per family; 6 p.m., “Tales & Traditions with Francis Wood” – join local author and story teller Francis Wood, meet at the Interpretive Circle next to beach area;

Sunday, Sept. 2, 11 a.m., “Guided Hike” – a guided hike around one of the trails; 12:30 p.m. – “Gone to the Dogs”; 2 p.m. “Lake Explorers” – dip nets in the water along the shore to see what creatures are there; 4 p.m., “Going Green” – create things using 100% recycled materials, fee for the program is $2 per person, $6 per family; 8:30 p.m., “Evening Canoe Float” – evening canoe float to discover the beauty of nature at night, meet at the Prince Edward Boat Ramp, spaces are limited, call the Main Office to reserve a spot, fee for the program is $6 per person, $5 per person for groups of four or more;

Monday, Sept. 3, 11 a.m., “Geocaching 101” – new ways to treasure hunt, $3 per person, $8 per family; 4 p.m., “Creature Feature” – learn about one of the park's many amazing creatures;

Upcoming special events include:

Sept. 11, “National Day of Service” – in honor of 9/11 and The National Day of Service, Twin Lakes will be collecting canned goods to donate to local food-banks and homeless shelters, for more information call the main office; Sept. 22, “Junior Ranger Day” – an all day kids' program that teaches life lessons and outdoors skills while immersing kids in the great outdoors, ages five-12, $10 per child, spaces limited, call the main office to register.
