Each fall Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts across the country perform a service project called Scouting for Food. Scouts in the Farmville area put grocery bags on residents’ doors and return a week later to collect the bags filled with non-perishable food. All of the food collected is donated to food banks in Farmville that serve needy residents in the area. Local Scouts were out placing bags this past Saturday, and will return Saturday, Nov. 1, to collect the bags. The Scouts ask that residents place their bags by their door where it will be visible from the road by 10 a.m.
