Twin Lakes Notes Weekend Events

Twin Lakes State Park announces the following weekend events:
Friday, September 19, Interpretive Circle, 11 a.m., “Native Knowhow” – make crafts that our ancestors would have made; 2 p.m., “Lake Explorers” – grab a net and see what kinds of creatures and critters live in the lake; 4 p.m., “Fishing 101” – learn everything from knots to tackle then try your luck on the lake; 7:30 p.m., “Meet New Friends Campfire” – sit around the campfire and make s’mores, meet at the fire ring behind Shelter 1;
Saturday, September 20 – Interpretive Circle 11 a.m., “Stewardship Virginia: Tree Planting” – tree planting throughout the park, tools will be provided, meet in the Concession Stand; 12:30 p.m. “Beaver Hike” – one mile guided hike around Goodwin Lake to learn how the beaver impacts local environment;
Sunday, September 21, Interpretive Circle 11 a.m. “Canoeing 101” – learn the ins and outs of canoeing, then take a guided paddle around Goodwin Lake, $5 per person or $4 per person for groups of four-plus, closed toed shoes required, meet at the Goodwin Lake Boat Ramp; 2 p.m. “Skin and Bones” – learn about local wildlife; 4 p.m., “Predator vs. Prey” adaptations that various animals have envolved to help elude and hunt one another.
