Firefly Festival At High Bridge

Published 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Bring dad to High Bridge the night before Father's Day, Saturn-day June 15, and enjoy the spectacular sight of synchronous fireflies by the thousands in the tree tops below the High Bridge. Craig Guthrie, the Park's chief ranger, will give a brief talk about these curious insects with their abdomens aglow. Bring a camera to record this curious event of nature.

Waverly Garner, the Park's AmeriCorps volunteer will guide guests starting at 8:30 p.m. from the parking lot on River Road. The distance to High Bridge is approximately one mile from this parking lot. The event is free, but a parking fee applies at the River Road parking lot. Be sure to bring drinking water and be prepared to stay out after dark.
