Heather Bragg Powell and Jonathan Sterling Smith announce their engagement and the joining of their lives to be a family. Heather is the daughter of Virginia Sanford, of Scottsville, and Don Bragg, of Buckingham. She is the granddaughter of Ernest and Frances Branch, of Scottsville. Jonathan is the son of Paul and Brenda Smith, of New Canton. He is the grandson of Mitchell Gunter, of Appomattox.

The bride-to-be is employed at Lumpkin's Restaurant, Scottsville.

The groom-to-be is employed at Countryline Trucking, Amherst.

A wedding with reception to follow will be held on August 3.
