James River Fall Harvest Festival Set For Oct. 20

The Fall Harvest Festival and Haunted Wagon Ride will be presented by James River State Park on Saturday, Oct. 20. The Fall Harvest Festival begins at 2 p.m. at the Visitors Center and the haunted wagon rides begin at 7 p.m.
Spend a fun-filled afternoon in the park with fall harvest activities including: pumpkin Carving Contest: buy a pumpkin for $5 (plus tax); Frontier Encampment: enjoy living history, period clothing, cooking, baking, hatchet throwing, and more; Tye River Overlook wagon rides: enjoy an afternoon wagon ride for $3 per person or $8 per family; duck races: help the Friends of James River Fundraiser – buy a duck, three for $12; first duck to the finish line wins; candy maze: travel through a maze of grass and receive candy at the completion of the maze; crafts: enjoy corn shelling, apple cider press, butter making & tasting, candle dipping, face painting for $1, and corn husk doll making.
Wait by a warm and cozy bonfire for your turn on the haunted wagon ride beginning at 7 p.m. Rides are $5 per person, and children six and under are free. Hot cider will be served at the bonfire and food will be available throughout the day. Parking for the day is $3.
Supporters of the Fall Festival and Haunted Wagon Ride are Friends of James River State Park, Buckingham Historical Society, Cardinal Chevrolet, and Alpha Phi Omega.
