Twin Lakes Announces Weekend Events

Twin Lakes States Park announces the following weekend events:
Friday, August 17 – 4 p.m., “Lake Explorers” – dip nets in the water along the shore to see what creatures are there; 6 p.m. “Family Game Night” – board games, card games, puzzles and more; 8 p.m. “Make New Friends Campfire” – make new friends at the park, sing songs, hear stories, and enjoy s'mores;
Saturday, August 18 – 11 a.m. “Canoeing 101” – start with the basics, fee for program is $5 per person, $4 per person for groups of 4+. Meet at Goodwin Lake Boat Ramp; 1 p.m. “Plant ID Hike” – a hike around Dogwood Hollow Trail to discover some of the park's diverse plant life, meet in front of the Main Office; 2 p.m. “Creature Feature” – learn about one of the park's many amazing creatures; 3 p.m. “Up, Down, and All Around” – how to navigate using maps and compasses; 4 p.m. “Geocaching 101” – new way to treasure hunt, $3 per person, $8 per family; 8:30 p.m. “Evening Canoe Float” – evening canoe float to discover the beauty of nature at night, meet at the Prince Edward Boat Ramp, spaces are limited, call Main Office to reserve a spot, fee for the program is $6 per person, $5 per person for groups of four or more;
Sunday, August 19 – 2 p.m. “Story Hike” – combine a love of reading with the great outdoors; 4 p.m. “Going Green” – create things using 100% recycled materials, fee for the program is $2 per person, $6 per family;
Mark your calendars for these upcoming special events – September 11 National Day of Service: in honor of 9/11 and The National Day of Service, Twin Lakes will be collecting canned goods to donate to local food-banks and homeless shelters; September 22, Junior Ranger Day: all day kid's program teaches life lessons and outdoors skills while immersing kids in the great outdoors, ages five-12, $10 per child, spaces limited, call the main office to register
