Centra SCH Welcomes Dr. Bal

Dr. Bikram S. Bal is the newest addition to the Centra Southside Community Hospital family. Dr. Bal will open our new Centra Southside Center for Gastrointestinal & Liver Diseases office, located on the hospital campus.

Dr. Bikram S. Bal graduated from the Christian Medical College and Brown Memorial Hospital in India. He did his post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University, Washington Hospital Center. He also completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology there as well.

Dr. Bal is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and is board eligible in Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterology Association. He is the author of many medical publications and abstracts, as well as co-author on a book chapter in Nutritional Requirements of the Critically Ill Obese Patient.

Dr. Bal's interests include golf, wine-tasting, and skeet shooting. He is also a member of the Farmville Rotary Club, as his father was a longtime Rotarian.
