Mr. and Mrs. John Watlington Waddill Jr. are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Virginia Christine Waddill, to SGT. Vernon Kirkwood Barnes II, both of Chester.

Miss Waddill is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Watlington Waddill, of Chester, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Fredrick Cook, of Burkeville.

SGT. Barnes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Barnes, of Chester, and is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Sciacca, of Sebring, FL.

The bride-to-be will graduate in May from Longwood University with a degree in Elementary Education.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Emory and Henry College with a degree in Biology. He is currently serving in the United States Army as a Combat Medic stationed at Fort Lee.

A May wedding is being planned on the beautiful beaches of Duck, NC.
