Clarinetist Julia Heinen will present a guest recital Saturday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Longwood University's Wygal Auditorium.

Heinen, professor of music at California State University, Northridge, has performed hundreds of concertos and recitals as a soloist around the world. Critics have called her a “sensation” and “absolutely brilliant” and said she “plays with intensity, conviction and impressive virtuosity.”

Heinen also is an accomplished ensemble player and has served as principal clarinetist with the American Wind Ensemble, a professional wind ensemble that tours the United States and Europe, and with various orchestras.
