On June 25, Strayer University held their 119th annual commencement ceremony in Washington D.C. at the Verizon Center. Among those receiving degrees were sisters Sharon and Shannon Hatcher of Cumberland. Sharon and Shannon are the daughters of Lloyd and Shirley Hatcher of Cumberland.

Sharon, a 1995 graduate of Longwood College (now Longwood University) received a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management. Currently, Sharon works as an Accounting Services Supervisor at Travelers Insurance in Richmond.

Shannon Hatcher, a 2007 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University received a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Management. Shannon currently works as a Regional Account Manager for UnitedHealth Group servicing Centra Health System, Carilion Health System, Martha Jefferson Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Health System.

Both Sharon and Shannon graduated with honors and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout their respective programs.
