The SCOPE Meals on Wheels Board of Directors held its annual Volunteer Recognition Cookout on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Wilck's Lake Island. In spite of the constant threat of rain, 80 volunteers and friends attended and enjoyed the food and fellowship.

Hoke Currie, retired executive director, was presented with a Certificate of Recognition and a Leadership Award for his outstanding 10-year service. Douglas Presbyterian Church was acknowledged as the “Sponsor/Donor of the Year”.

Of the seventy-four 74 total volunteer drivers for the year (i. September 2010-August 2011), 24 have delivered meals for the entire 10 years that SCOPE Meals on Wheels has been in existence. Nine 9 volunteer drivers are also members of the Board of Directors.
