Published 3:42 pm Thursday, October 20, 2011
The Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library will offer a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon on Sunday, Oct. 30, at its 1303 West Third Street location. This workshop will be part of “Wikipedia Loves Libraries,” an international program of mini-conferences that teach library patrons what Wikipedia is, how to edit it, and how communities can benefit from Wikipedia.
There will be a choice of two sessions. A session for laptop users will be offered from 2:30-3:30 pm in the library's meeting room. Laptop users must bring their own laptops. A session for desktop users will be offered from 3:45-4:45 in the library's computer lab. Attendance for the desktop session is limited to the first 20 participants.
Instruction will be designed for the beginning editor. The emphasis of the sessions will be on local history and local events.
For more information on the Edit-a-thon, please call the library at (434) 392-6924 x 102.
