TRIAD Anniversary Set For Aug. 26
Published 4:38 pm Thursday, August 18, 2011
Prince Edward County TRIAD will celebrate its second anniversary at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 26, with a meeting at the Farmville Moose Lodge, located at 1409 Longwood Avenue in Farmville. TRIAD is a cooperative effort of law enforcement agencies, senior citizens, and senior organizations, focused on reducing crimes against senior citizens. In the past two years, TRIAD has hosted multiple events focusing on scam and fraud detection and prevention, elder abuse, home security, and personal protection. TRIAD events are open to all Prince Edward County seniors, their friends, and family members.
The event on August 26 will feature an opportunity to “solve a mystery” with a hands on demonstration of crime scene techniques and evidence collection. Attendees will learn how law enforcement agencies collect, package, and submit evidence to the state forensics laboratory, as well as what that evidence can actually tell investigators.
In addition, there will be representatives and vendors from several organizations and businesses that cater to seniors to explain their services and answer questions. Refreshments, door prizes, and free blood pressure and glucose screenings will also be available.
If you have any questions, please contact Sgt. Bill Hogan of the Farmville Police Dept. at 434-392-2126 or Karla Ellington of Crossroads Community Services Board at 434-298-6897.
