High Bridge Trail State Park hosted an evening walk on August 11 with 85 in attendance. Bob Flippen, the Park's AmeriCorps volunteer, teamed with special guest Dr. James W. Jordan, of Holliday Lake State Park, to discuss historical attractions such as the N & W passenger station, the Farmville-Powhatan Railroad, Stanley Park, the Junction Canal, and the Smith-Taylor Mound. Afterwards, everyone returned to the train station for a lemonade social sponsored by the Friends of High Bridge Trail. As part of the evening Dr. Jordan showed slides and artifacts from past archeological excavations in the area.
