Looking for something fun to do after dinner? Here's a chance to get some exercise, make new friends and learn a little about local history.
High Bridge Trail State Park will host an evening “after dinner” walk through the heart of historic Farmville on Thursday, July 14 starting at 7:30 p.m. The Park's Americorps volunteer, Bob Flippen, will lead a short walk from the vicinity of the Farmville train station to the Appomattox River pointing out historical attractions along the way including the N&W Passenger Station, Confederate General Hospital, Farmville Mill, South Side Rail Road station, the Farmville Dispensary, Prince Edward Hotel, Craddock-Terry Shoe Factory and the Appomattox River.
This program is part of the Virginia State Parks 75th Anniversary celebration.
If you are not interested in the program but want to enjoy the park after dark, it will be open between Main Street and the US 460 overpass bridges (3.3 miles). You may enjoy the moonlit night until 11 p.m. when the park will close. For more information call the Park Office at 434-315-0457.
