Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Committee will have a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. The next meeting will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m. at the Cumber- land Community Center located at 45 south and Davenport Road. During this meeting we will be honoring and remembering the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom.

Hatcher Baptist Church located on 5 Gravel Hill Road (intersection of Route 617 and 622) will be hosting Thanksgiving banquet set Family Fun Night on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. There will be kids skits, a puppet show and Kids Praise Team “As One,” door prizes, refreshments and more, so come join us for family fun night. Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Group saying no to the dump will be hosting a fundraising raffle on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 and Davenport Road. First prize will be for a Winchester 12 gauge pump shotgun, second place prize will be one end table, third place prize a $50 visa gift card. The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom. Buckingham Baptist Church located on 24234 N. James Madison Hwy., New Canton will be hosting their annual “Trunk or Treat” on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until. Cedar Baptist Church located 3932 Bell Road Dillwyn will be hosting “Trunk or Treat” on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m.

Spreading God’s Gifts Inc., a nonprofit organization serving Buckingham and surrounding counties in helping people in their hour of need, will be hosting a benefit Barbecue Dinner and Concert on Saturday evening Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. at the VFW Hall located Route 60, 14405 West James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham. Dinner to include barbecue, bun, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and beverage all for a donation. You may eat in or take out. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will be hosting their Annual Thanksgiving Banquet on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. at the VFW Hall located route 60 at 14405 West James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham. All members and their guest are welcome to attend and asked to bring a covered dish with the meats and drinks furnished by the association. Following this will be gospel music at its bests featuring “Smokey Wilson” of Concord also door prizes will be given away.
