Fall festival Saturday

Fitzgerald Memorial Baptist Church located at 14 Fitzgerald Road Cumberland will be hosting a special event on Saturday. Dinner and concert has been canceled.

Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Committee will have a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 11, 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road.

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Marsha Davis and Jerry Heifner both of Dillwyn and both celebrating birthdays on Friday, Oct. 19; Thama Elder of Appomattox and Helen Reynolds both celebrating birthdays on Tuesday, Oct. 23; and Sandra Ownby of Dillwyn, Ailene Snoddy of Arvonia and Mary Hayes of Crewe all celebrating birthdays on Wednesday, Oct. 24. The 2018 fall Miles Reunion was held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at Golden Corral in Richmond where a nice crowd attended and enjoyed lots of good food, fun and fellowship.

Buckingham Baptist Church, located 24234 N. James Madison Hwy, New Canton, will be hosting a fall festival on Saturday from noon-4 p.m. to benefit building and grounds. Activities to include delicious stew, cakewalk, games and activities will be provided for the children, special music “All Problems Solved” featuring Floyd Reid and Worm Patterson and a car show. Classes to include Ford, Chevy, Dodge and imports. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class. People’s choice and best in show trophies will be given out. A night of worship, preaching and prayer focused on bringing the Hope and Healing of Jesus to our beautiful Central Virginia Community on Saturday starting at 6 p.m. at Courtland Field, 217 Atwood St., Appomattox. All are welcome to attend. This is a non-denominational open meeting with guest speaker the Rev. Greg Terry. Bring a chair or blanket and come join us for a night of hope and healing.

Welcome Wesleyan Church, located 1 mile north of Central Virginia Health Center on Route 15 N., will be hosting a pancake and sausage supper benefit for a donation on Friday from 5-7 p.m. All proceeds resulting from this event will be used for missions work. So make your plans now to join us.
