Church service info and happy birthdays

Buckingham Baptist Church located at 24234 North James Madison Highway in the Goldhill Area of New Canton will be hosting a drive-in service at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 26. All those planning to attend the service will drive into the parking lot and are to remain in their cars throughout the duration of the service. Having no contact with individuals while there and must leave following the service. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hatcher Baptist Church of Cumberland will be hosting an in-house worship service Sunday, July 26, at 9 a.m. for those 60 years and older. Those 59 years and younger will attend the in-house worship service at 11 a.m. Those attending the in-house worship services must sit with their families six feet apart from the nearest individuals or families. Those who are attending one or the other of these services and still feel uncomfortable going into the church may remain in their cars and tune in to FM 87.9. Also at 6 p.m. there will be an in-house service for all ages.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions the annual former Craddock Terry Shoefactory annual breakfast meeting, normally held in August, has been canceled.

Visiting the home of Gladys LeSueur of Dillwyn last week was her dear friend in Christ Jane Grey of Rice.

Belated happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Ella Mae Dunn of Farmville who celebrated her birthday last week.

The 2020 Five County Fair of Farmville has been canceled this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following people: Thomas Newton of Cartersville on Friday, July 25; Charlotte Morris of Dillwyn on Sunday July 26; Faye Marion of Cumberland; Susan Absher of Dillwyn and Alice Bell of New Canton all having birthdays on Thursday, July 30.

Victory Baptist Church located at 4339 Salem Road Spout Springs will be hosting an in-house Sunday school and worship services July 26 beginning with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and followed by morning worship at 10:30 a.m. Families may sit together with distances of 6 feet from the next individual or family.

The 33rd Annual Virginia Catfish Festival sponsored by the Southside Shrine Club to benefit Shriners Hospital for Children for 2020 has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
