Strong thunderstorm brings hail to Cartersville Friday

A storm that began in northern Cumberland County Friday afternoon brought wind damage and hail as it made its way through Powhatan County and Chesterfield causing power outages and downed trees.
According to the National Weather Service, reports began coming into the Wakefield center about wind damage near Trice Lake at around 3:20 Friday afternoon. Reports of hail came in from the Cartersville area around 3:28 p.m.
Cumberland only received the beginning of the storm that covered decks with hail, brought down tree limbs as caused power outages as it made its way to Chesterfield before ending in Surry County just after 5:30 p.m.
