Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following people: Nellie Moss of Dillwyn and Jonnie Gadwell of New Jersey on Friday, March 6, Berta Childress of Phenix, Moe Rutherford of Cumberland 99 years young, Margy Smith of Farmville and Annie Mae Wharam of New Canton all having birthdays on Monday, March 9 and Elaine Myers of Richmond on Thursday March 12.

Buckingham Baptist Church located 24234 North James Madison Highway (Gold Hill Area) New Canton, will be hosting a Saint Patrick’s day dinner Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. The dinner includes cabbage, red potatoes, corn beef and cornbread and beverage. Eat in or take out. All are welcome to attend.

Belated happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Sherman Carter, age 50 of Dillwyn, who celebrated his birthday Monday, March 2 and to his mom Annie Carter of Dillwyn who celebrated her 96th birthday Tuesday, March 3.

The Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary located at 30 Old Buckingham Road (Route 13), will be hosting a benefit Saint Patrick’s day dance Saturday, March 21 from 8 p.m. until midnight. The D.J. will be Bob Huddleston of Buckingham.

The Inspirations from Bryson City North Carolina will be in their 47th Annual Gospel Concert Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at The Appomattox County High School auditorium. The show will be sponsored by the Appomattox Lions Club. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a non-profit organization, will be hosting its regular monthly meeting Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church located at 4898 Bridgeport Road, Arvonia.
