Cumberland County Landfill Alert Committee welcomes all citizens of Cumberland County and surrounding counties to a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn, welcomes everyone to their Good Friday service on Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m., on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. for an Easter egg hunt with lunch to follow and on Sunday, April 21, sunrise service will begin 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast in the church fellowship hall. Spreading God’s Gifts Inc., a nonprofit organization serving Buckingham and surrounding counties in helping people in their hour of need, will be hosting their annual fish fry on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Mulberry Grove Baptist Church, 13283 West James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham. Dinner to include fried fish, baked beans, fresh coleslaw, french fries, dessert and beverage — all for a donation. You may eat in or take out. At 6 p.m., enjoy Bluegrass Gospel music at its best featuring The Old Time Gospel Singers of Crewe. Door prizes will be given away. For further information call (434) 983-2269. Browns, Hanes and Rocky Mount United Methodist Churches of Dillwyn will be hosting special Easter weekend events. On Saturday, April 20, there will be an Easter egg hunt followed by a light lunch. Then on Sunday, April 21, join them for sunrise services at 6:30 a.m. with the presentation of “The Birth of Christ To Calvary” followed by breakfast at 7:30 a.m. with morning worship to conclude the day at 8:30 a.m. Pastor Rebecca Cook and the entire congregation welcome all to attend.

Family members met at a local restaurant in Dillwyn to celebrate Kenny Gentry’s 72nd birthday on Friday, April 5. Everybody had a nice time.

All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of loved ones lost to cancer. Come out and support the American Cancer Society. This is the largest car show in Buckingham.

Sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast and an Easter egg hunt at the Woodman Of The World Building located at 318 Harold St., Appomattox. The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.
