Oak Hill Mennonite Church of Cumberland located at 93 Oak Hill Road Cumberland Annual Thanksgiving Banquet that was scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 18, has been canceled this year due to church renovation.

Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Committee welcomes all citizens of Cumberland County and surrounding counties to a community meeting concerning the proposed landfill to learn more and receive information about the stand against this issue. The next meeting will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road. During this meeting we will be honoring and remembering the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom.

There will be a Fall Fest on Saturday at the Cumberland Middle and High School Complex, 16 School Road, from 11 a.m-2 p.m. Fun for the whole family. Activities to include face painting, balloons, games for the kids, bouncy house, selfies with Santa and free coat giveaway. Lunch will be provided at no cost. First come, first serve. So come one, come all and get coats for the fall. Sponsored by local churches in Cumberland and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Cumberland County Landfill Awareness Group saying no to the dump will be hosting a fundraising raffle on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Community Center located at 45 South and Davenport Road. First prize will be for a Winchester 12 gauge pump shotgun, second place prize will be one end table, third place prize a $50 visa gift card. The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday unless otherwise announced at 7 p.m. in the Cumberland County Courtroom.

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Frankie Branham of Cumberland on Tuesday, Nov. 13, and Barbara Kritzer of Fork Union on Thursday, Nov. 15.

Browns Chapel United Methodist Church located on U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617 Gravel Hill Road will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving lunch on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. followed by a Thanksgiving program. Pastor Rebecca Cook and the entire congregation welcomes the community and all hunters to attend.

Buckingham Baptist Church located at 24234 North James Madison Hwy. welcomes all to attend their annual Thanksgiving lunch following the morning worship service on Sunday, Nov. 18.

Welcome Wesleyan Church located 1 mile north of Central Virginia Health Center on U.S. Route 15 N will be hosting a Pancake Supper Benefit on Friday, Nov. 16, from 5-7:00 p.m. for a donation. All proceeds will be used for mission projects in Virginia.

Cedar Baptist Church located on U.S Route 15 North of Dillwyn at 3932 Bell Road Dillwyn will be hosting their annual Thanksgiving Banquet on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. followed by a Thanksgiving service. Pastor Tommy Armstrong and the entire congregation welcome all to attend.
