The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors monthly meeting is held every second Tuesday, unless otherwise announced, at 7 p.m. Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following people: Grace Martin of Dillwyn on Friday, July 13, Ella Mae Dunn of Farmville Sunday, July 15, and Frankie Jones of Wingina Thursday, July 19.

Fitzgerald Memorial Baptist Church, 14 Fitzgerald Road, Cumberland, will be hosting a “Christmas in July BBQ Chicken Fundraiser” for the Cumberland Christmas Mother project on Saturday, July 21, at noon. To preorder call (804) 492-5151.

Browns Chapel United Methodist Church, U.S. Route 15 north of Dillwyn on state route 617 (Gravel Hill Road) will be hosting annual homecoming services and revival Sunday, July 22 – 25. Sunday homecoming services will begin with Sunday School at 9 a.m. with gospel music at its best featuring Mike Yoder and the Oakhill Quartet of Cumberland at 10 a.m. Morning worship will be at 11:15 a.m. with Pastor Rebecca Cook bringing the morning message; lunch in the church fellowship hall will follow.

Revival service Monday, July 23, at 7 p.m. will feature special speaker Tammy Hunt and special music by Chris Lewis. Tuesday, July 24, guest speaker will be Thomas Wynn at 7 p.m. with a sing along with the congregation. Wednesday night at 7 p.m. guest speaker will be Paul Palmore with special music by Barry Snoddy. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, is sponsoring a one-day bus trip on Wednesday, Aug. 29, to the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre in Wytheville to see the show “One Nation Under God.” The Theatre is proud to pay tribute to our fellow American men and women serving, protecting and defending the USA here at home and around the world. These heroes have sacrificed their time, talents and lives so that we may enjoy and celebrate freedom. This production also features America’s gospel favorites and hymns that we grew up singing and presented by the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre fabulous musicians and singers. Come and join as we celebrate in the blessings of our God and country. Pickup points will be at the Dillwyn Food Lion and Farmers Bank parking lot in Appomattox.
