World-renowned Irish quintet Caladh Nua, which balances traditional Irish music with an innovative contemporary styling, will present a free concert Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Longwood University’s Jarman Auditorium.

“The musicians of Caladh Nua (pronounced Call-ah Noo-ah) play instruments ranging from banjo to fiddle, guitar to bodhrán and tin whistle to button accordion,” Longwood officials said in an email. “The band has released three acclaimed albums and performed internationally in tours and festivals. Audio and video clips of Caladh Nua’s music are available at www.baylinartists.com.”

“This is a vibrant, talented band whose vast repertoire includes haunting songs and evocative instrumental tunes,” said Dr. Charlie Kinzer of Longwood’s music department.
