Cumberland food bank open Monday

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following people: Charlotte Davis, of New Canton, Sunday; Scott Midkiff, of Cumberland, Tuesday; and Sherry Midkiff, Thursday.

Congratulations to Kevin and Rene Marion of Cumberland.

The couple will be celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

The Cumberland County Community Food Bank partnering with The Central Virginia Food Bank, A FeedMore Program of Richmond will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents including Cartersville residents on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until all food is gone at the old Cumberland County Elementary School Cafeteria next door to the gym, located at 1874 Anderson Hwy.

You must have already registered to get food or you must see the director Jerry Seal.

All food recipients please bring bags.

Also on Monday, you may apply for USDA Foods if you have not already done so.

Those of you who have already applied and have been approved will be able to pick up your USDA food along with your other regular food.

The Full Gospel Church, 5410 Old Buckingham Road, Powhatan, will host a “Poker Run” and “Bike & Car Show” on Saturday to benefit “The Angel Tree Fund.”

Registration for the “Bike & Car Show” will be held at the church from 11 a.m.-noon.

The first bike will leave at noon one mile from the church.

There will be a “Bike & Car Cruising” from 1-4 p.m. with food, raffles and music.

A large crowd attended the 80th birthday party for Shirley Waycaster of Dillwyn on Sept. 10.

The event was held at Hatcher Baptist Church located in Cumberland where she attends.

Everyone enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, along with Susie Taylor, of Dillwyn, and Patricia Woodfin, enjoyed a wonderful evening meal at Vito’s Italian Restaurant of Cumberland on Sept. 11.

Remember summer ends and autumn begins Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10:21 a.m.
