Blanche Banton Tyler

Blanche Banton Tyler, 84, of Dillwyn, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.  “Granny” was born June 22, 1931, the daughter of the late Emmett M. and Lucy Walker Banton.  She was married to the late William E. Tyler.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Tyler Newton and son-in-law, Lawrence Newton.

Granny is survived by her son, Johnny Tyler and his wife, Susan; her daughter, Linda Tyler Hackett; son-in-law, Charles Hackett; two sisters, Mary Lou Kanary and Dorothy Castle; her grandchildren, Michelle Shumaker (Allen), Junior Dunkum and wife, Katie, Anne LeSueur, Ryan Tyler and wife, Rebecca, Brad Tyler and wife, Ashley, Josh Hackett (Shauna) and Clint Hackett and wife, Shelby; her great-grandchildren, Amber Call and husband, Stephen, Brianna and Tyler LeSueur, Grace and Gavin Dunkum, Lucy Tyler, Erin Webber, Maci and Caleb Tyler; and a  great-great-granddaughter, Allee Call.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 10 at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Armstrong and the Rev. Jimmy Dunn officiating.  Interment will follow in the Buckingham Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham County Rescue Squad.
