Mid-August brings food distributions, Cruise-In

Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Jane Cooke of Brookneal (Aug. 15); Lillian Styers of Drakes Branch (Aug. 17); Barry Miles, age 52, of Cumberland (Aug. 18); and Mattie Bell Gilliam of Dillwyn (Aug. 20).

A large crowd attended the 2015 annual Craddock Terry Shoe Factory breakfast meeting for former employees on Saturday at Teresa’s Place in Dillwyn. Everyone enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, along with Jane Cooke and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, enjoyed an evening meal at a Dillwyn restaurant in Dillwyn Saturday.

Elizabeth Stone, of Dillwyn was overnight guest last week in the home of her daughter Linda Seay, of Richmond.

Our thoughts and prayers go to the sick and shut-in.

On Saturday a large crowd attended the birthday party for Cece Waycaster, daughter of Tommy Joe (T.J.) and Stephanie Waycaster, of Dillwyn. Everyone had a great time of fun and fellowship.

Spreading God’s Gifts Inc. thanks all who volunteered and attended the Spaghetti Dinner Concert Aug. 8 at the VFW Hall in Buckingham.

Loaves of Love food pantry operated by the Seven Day Adventist Church, 2294 Cartersville Rd. is for Cumberland county residents including Cartersville. The next food distribution will be held Thursday from 2-4:30 p.m. You must bring in two forms of ID, a photo ID and proof of residence in Cumberland (electric bill, tax bill or voter ID). Due to summer heat, appointments are recommended, however, walk-ins are accepted. Call Jessica to schedule an appointment or for further information at (804)512-7547. Your tax deductible donation is appreciated and will help obtain more food. Note: All food boxes are given on a first come-first serve basis.

Fitzgerald Baptist Church partnering with Central Virginia Food Bank Feed More program will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents including Cartersville residents on Monday from 1-2 p.m at Southworth Power Equipment, 1273 Anderson Hwy., Cumberland. You must have registered December 2014 or see Director Jerry Seal the day of distribution to qualify. Reminder: please bring bags.
