Funeral Service Held Monday For John Tipton, IV, 75

KEYSVILLE, March 9 – John Albert Tipton IV was born in Keysville, August 22, 1934. He was the son of John Albert Tipton Jr. and Elizabeth Peters Tipton. He died on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the age of 75.

Mr. Tipton graduated from RHHS, and then from VMI, class of 1956. He served in the Army Reserve for six years. He worked as a salesman for Deering-Milliken, Galey & Lord, and Mister Coats. He loved sports and was an avid tennis player.

He is survived by a sister, Patty Tipton Pugh; his wife of 52 years, Joan Swack Tipton; children, Tammy Tipton-Nay, Lisa Tipton McCoig, and John Howard Tipton; grandchildren, Molly McCoig Bridgeforth IV, John Jacob Nay, John Patrick McCoig, James Justin Nay, Matthew Quinn Tipton, and Lauren Elizabeth Tipton.

The funeral service was held on Monday, March 8, at the Keysville United Methodist Church where Mr. Tipton was baptized and confirmed. Interment followed in the Ash Camp Memorial Cemetery.
