Vada “Ilene” Yoder went home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 11, 2020. Born December 1, 1933, Ilene grew up in the mountains of West Virginia, but her adventurous spirit took her far away from those mountains, but not far from her roots. She and her husband, who was career Army, traveled the world and lived in Bangkok, Thailand for 3 years. They retired to Farmville, VA in 1979 where they bought a small farm. Her heart was big and generous, she loved sharing her baking, cooking, and canning with all who knew her.

Ilene leaves behind three children and one stepdaughter, Pat Hurt (Jimmy), Jean Altice (Richard), Jerry Howerton, and Phuong Thao (Le) as well as 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 sisters, Violet Richmond, Brenda Steele, Mary Amos (Ronnie), Billie Richmond, and a brother, Darrell (Judy) Richmond and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marvin Yoder and 2 sons Eugene Carson Lester and Terry Lynn Howerton.
