CUMBERLAND, Feb. 16 – Berthal Hall Mitchell, 101 of Cumberland, formerly of Richmond, departed this life on Friday, February 12, 2010. She was born November 4, 1908 in Petersburg, the daughter of the late Maggie Lucretia Lewis Hall and William L. Hall. On December 17, 1928 she married Thomas B. Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, James W. Mitchell.

She is survived by her children, Jane Mitchell Hobson, Nell Mitchell Spain (Ed), Thomas Leighton Mitchell and Marvin Lewis Mitchell; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

A funeral service was held Sunday at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Sunset Memorial Park in Chester on Monday, Feb. 15.
