A day in the life of a Civil War soldier

Published 1:00 pm Thursday, June 13, 2019

Saturday, June 22, Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park will host living historians and a Civil War Encampment. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the 19th century during the days of the American Civil War.

The encampment will include authentically dressed interpreters and feature black powder rifle demonstrations along with several activities that visitors will be encouraged to participate in, such as infantry drills, open fire camp cooking, and a letter writing station similar to what soldiers would use to send correspondence home.

Park staff encourage the public to join in creating a small window into the past and experience what it was like to be a soldier during the Civil War.
