INDIANA, March 16 – Ronald Curtis Coleman, 76, of Evansville, IN, was born April 12, 1933 in Farmville, and died on Friday, March 12, 2010. He was born to Lottie (Robertson) and Roy Early Coleman.

Mr. Coleman excelled at many things at an early age and was captain of both his high school football and baseball teams. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI). While there he sang in the VMI Glee Club at the inauguration of President Dwight David Eisenhower. He later completed an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He became the youngest works manager in the history of ALCOA and managed the Warrick County Works for many years. Under his supervision, the Warrick Works received the U.S. Senate Quality Award. He received numerous awards from ALCOA and retired from there and then worked several years for AmeriQual. Mr. Coleman sat on many community and corporate boards and had been active in the Tres Dias movement. He was a member of Methodist Temple and in his later years attended American Baptist East Church. He was an avid hunter and lover of dogs.

He is survived by his son, Curt Coleman (Lizzy) of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Lynne Triplett (Ed) of Roanoke; grandson, Evan Johnson (Amanda) and their son, Cooper, and grand-daughter, Layne Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Fran.

A memorial service was held March 16 at American Baptist East Church in Indiana.

There will be a private committal service later in Farmville.
