January 10 – “All progress occurs because people dare to be different.”

Well the 12th night has past so Christmas lights have been turned off and the decorations will slowly come down.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bolt and Peggy Kelsey attended the Guilford College and Hampden-Sydney basketball game Saturday in Greensboro, NC.

Funeral services for Margaret Slayton Banko were held Monday at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the church for many years and a member of the choir. She was a floral designer and artist; also a member of Central Virginia Arts.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith hosted a dinner party on Sunday afternoon. Guests attending were Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher, Ms Karen Camilo, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Wade Sr. and their son Jeff.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows joined Mr. and Mrs. Scott Friend, Mr. and Mrs. George Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton for breakfast and fellowship at Merk's Place on Monday.

The Prospect Happy Hats started the New Year off right with a gathering on January 4 at the home of Pat Smith the hostess. Those attending were Hilda Allen, Elfrieda Kerns, Susan Campbell, Jeannette Tarlton, Elsie Wilson, Edwina Covington and Margaret Stockton. They enjoy good food, fellowship and planning the coming year.

Neighbors, family and friends are praying for a speedy recovery for those that are sick at this time; Howard Campbell and Betty Meadows.

Friends and neighbors are extending their sincere sympathy to the families of Daphne Agee, Bobbie Leatherwood, Margaret Slayton Banko and Glenda Hudson.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Katherine Todd will be with them this week.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
