DECEMBER 9 — Ruby Holland Cogdill, 89, of Farmville, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014. She was born to the late Josh and Julie Holland on December 26, 1924 in Tennessee.

She was retired from Craddock-Terry Shoe Factory where she worked for 32 years. She was a loving, kind, and cheerful person who loved to play cards, reading and yard sales.

Mrs. Cogdill is survived by a son, James Cogdill (Judy) of Powhatan; four daughters, Patricia Jones of Pamplin, Mary Davis (Tommy) of Southerland, Iva Cook of Mt. Verde, FL and Elizabeth Cook of Midlothian; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was one of 14 children and is preceded in death by 13 of her siblings and her husband, John Thomas Cogdill.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10 at 1 p.m. in Hatcher Baptist Church with interment to follow in Grove Church Cemetery, Cumberland.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 9 (tonight) from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. at the funeral home.
