- EMILY HOLLINGSWORTH | HERALD Downed trees, similar to the one shown here at Hampden-Sydney College, has created road closures and power outages from falling and damaging power lines. Crew are hard at work to restore power to those affected in Prince Edward, Buckingham and Cumberland.
Prince Edward County Public Schools are closed Tuesday due to road conditions. Cumberland County Public Schools are opening Tuesday as scheduled. Cumberland cited that alternate bus routes have been made where needed.
Because of the significant improvements in restoring power in Lunenburg Monday night, both Lunenburg 1 and 2 Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR) home delivered meal routes will run on schedule Tuesday, in addition to the makeup of the Cumberland Route, the completion of the Charlotte Route, Prince Edward 1 Route, and the normal Buckingham Route. Both Lunenburg and Buckingham friendship cafes are open today, though no transportation is being provided to the Lunenburg site due to road closures.
PSR officials said the schedule is subject to change based on continued power outages. Any changes will be announced ASAP.
