Happy birthday wishes go out to Frank Baird, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Monday, September 8; Diane Green, of Cumberland, Betty Jo LeSueur, of Dillwyn, and Tammy Gough, of Winginia, celebrating on Tuesday, September 9; Shirley Waycaster, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Wednesday, September 10; and Terry Sprouse, of Buckingham, celebrating on Thursday, September 11.

Barry Miles, of Cumberland, along with his cousin, Cheryl Canipe, of Henrico, enjoyed an afternoon meal at a Midlothian restaurant on Friday, Augusut 30.

A very special happy birthday wish is sent out to Emerson Martin, who will be two years old on Sunday, September 7. He is the son of Tony and Rebecca Martin of Dillwyn.

Susie Taylor, of Dillwyn, along with Patricia Woodfin, of new Canton, and Barry and Linda Miles had a great afternoon of fun, food and fellowship at a restaurant in Cumberland on Friday, August 30.

Happy anniversary wishes go out this week to a very special couple, Pastor Terry Tolliver and his wife Pam of St. Andrews Baptist Church in Buckingham. They will celebrate on Wednesday, September 10.

Welcome home to James Boyles of Cumberland who has returned home from the hospital. He is said to be doing okay as of this writing. Brandley Carter, of North Carolina, visited his sister, Ann Carter, in Dillwyn a few days last week.

Sympathy is extended to the Troutman Family of Richmond. Blair Troutman, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28. A funeral service was held September 3.

Frances Smith, Shirley Waycaster and Ralph and Fern Dunnavant all of Dillwyn visited in the home of Annie May Miles in Dillwyn last week.

Spreading God’s Gifts, Inc., is a local non-profit homegrown faith-based ministry that assists working individuals or families in need. Primarily serving Buckingham and surrounding counties. On Saturday evening, September 6, there will be a dinner auction at the VFW Hall Route 60 Buckingham to assist Spreading God’s Gifts. Dinner will be served from 4:30-6 p.m. and include hotdogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, desert and beverage for a donation. At 6 p.m. there will be an auction of new items. Bill Talbert, of Buckingham, will be the Auctioneer. Funds resulting from this event will help individuals and families in the hour of need. Jammin’ on the James Summer Concert series at Dorrier Park in Scottsville, continues on Sunday, September 7 from 5-8 p.m. Featured will be country music artist Ashley McMillen of Morgan Town, West Virginia. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, September 8, at 5 p.m. at Pino’s Italian Restaurant in Dillwyn. Cedar Baptist Church, located on Bell Road in Dillwyn, will hold a “Cedar Clothes Closet” on Saturday, September 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be fall and winter clothing for the whole family free for those in need.
