The Dukes were able to convert quickly on some big plays but ultimately could not keep up with the Cougars, who improved to 2-3 on the year. Injuries continued to be a key factor for Cumberland as the list that features Christian Jackson, Noah Bland and Wyshawn Gilliam grew Friday to include senior star athlete Ziahir Berry, who had been a difference-maker when he was on the field against Nottoway. The Dukes (0-4) visit Amelia (4-0) on Monday at 7 p.m. in a make-up game previously postponed due to Hurricane Florence.
