DILLWYN, August 31 -Gordon Maynard Davis, 76, of Dillwyn, died Friday, August 27. 2004 in Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville.

He was born March 12, 1928 in Cumberland County, a son of the late John Washington Davis, Sr. and Florence Tatum Davis. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth E. Davis and John W. Davis, Jr.

Mr. Davis was the owner of G.M. Davis Trucking and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by a sister, Louise Davis Schultz of Daleville and two brothers, Clyde J. Davis of Farmville and James K. Davis of Buckingham.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday at Browns Chapel United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Browns Chapel United Methodist Church, Buckingham County Rescue Squad or the Dillwyn Fire Department.
