The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Friday. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. Monday for that Friday’s calendar. Events should be emailed to CommunityCalendar@ FarmvilleHerald.com.

JULY 7

4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION, 4 p.m. at Meherrin Fire Station. Stew will be ready at 11 a.m. Entertainment will be provided by Step Back Band. Free admission. Boot drive at the gate. Fireworks display at dusk. Alcohol and pets are prohibited.

WORKSHOP, 9 a.m. sponsored by The Women’s Ministry of Sharon Baptist Church followed by a continental breakfast. Facilitator will be Elder Rozena Jackson and will be the guest preacher for Women’s Day on Sunday. Sharon Baptist is located on Plank Road in Cumberland.

PAMPLIN DEPOT BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. at the Pamplin Train Depot. Special guest artists this month are Fox and the Bear. Fox and the Bear is a unique indie alternative folk sister duo. The concert and dance are free.

JULY 8

USHER MINISTRY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church,1144 Hendricks Road, Pamplin. Guest speaker, the Rev. Bland of Mt. Pero Baptist, Powhatan.

PREACHING, 11 a.m. at Forest Baptist Church will be the Rev. Calvin Nunnally.

HOMECOMING AND REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at Monroe Baptist Church preached by Rev. G. Wilson Monroe. Lunch will be served. The Rev. C.L. Hobbs Jr. from the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Kenbridge, will bring forth the word at 2:30 p.m.. Revival services will begin on Monday, with prayer and praise service starting at 7:30 p.m. and the preached word at 8 p.m. nightly. There will be different speakers and choirs each night. All are welcome.

HOMECOMING, 9 a.m. at White Rock AME Zion Church, 1123 Lew Jones Road, Alberta. Breakfast will be served after the planting of the Mustard Seed tree. Afternoon service guest will be the Rev. Terrance Gregory, pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist, Adams Grove. Meal will follow.

JULY 8-13

HOMECOMING AND REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Dillwyn. Lunch will be served. Afternoon service at 3 p.m. Guest Minister will be the Rev. Kevin Caleb, Pastor of Thessalonia Baptist, Fork Union. Evangelist for the week will be the Rev. Marion Tapscott. Prayer and praise will begin at 7:30 p.m. with worship service at 8 p.m. Different choirs each night. All are welcome.

BLOODMOBILE, 1-5 p.m. at Fuqua School cafeteria sponsored by The Kappa Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the Farmville Masonic Lodge #41. Handmade crafts, antiques/collectibles, produce, yard sale, direct market items and prepared food items. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Tables will be set up inside and outside. FOURTH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF PRAISE, 3 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist sponsored by the youth.

ROUTES TO RHYTHM CONCERT, 1-3 p.m. featuring musician Geoff White at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park. This is a family- friendly, free admission event.

GOSPEL CONCERT, 5 p.m. at the Apostolic Faith Church of all Nations in honor of Pastor Betty Jones’ 25 years of service. Lee Walker and Spirit will be featured and The Gospel Traveletts, The Pattersons, AFCOAN Combined Choir and AFCOAN Praise Dancers will also perform. BUTTERFLY AND POLLINATOR FESTIVAL, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park, Amelia.

GUEST PREACHER, 11 a.m. at Forest Baptist Church will be Dr. Rev. Samuel J. Williams for the church’s 145th Church Anniversary.

JULY 22-27

HOMECOMING AND REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at The High Bridge Baptist Church. Pastors’ Reginald and Eva Hurt will facilitate the dual sermon. At 2:30 p.m., the Reverend Edward Harrington of Greater Hayes Grove Baptist Church, South Hill will speak. Revival begins on Monday with prayer and praise at 7:30 p.m. and worship service at 8 p.m. There will be different preachers and choirs each night.

JULY 23-26

LONGWOOD BASEBALL YOUTH CAMP, 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for boys and girls between the ages of 6-12 at the baseball stadium on campus (Buddy Bolding Stadium) and will feature instruction for all ages in hitting, fielding, and pitching. To register contact Evan Wells at wellsee@longwood.edu.

JULY 26-28

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, 6-8 p.m. at Guinea Presbyterian Church. On Saturday, June 28, the time will be 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. with lunch provided. This year’s theme is “Paul’s” Underground Church. Closing ceremonies will take place Sunday, July 29, at the morning service at 11:15 a.m.

JULY 28-AUGUST 25

OPEN TRAIL NIGHTS, 9-11 p.m. at High Bridge Trail State Park between Farmville and River Road. The public is welcome to walk or ride the trail under the light of the full moon. The closest access to High Bridge is from the Camp Paradise parking area in Prince Edward County.

JULY 29

FIFTH SUNDAY MUSICAL SERVICE, 11 a.m. by the Heritage Bluegrass Band at Union Grove Baptist Church, 2006 County Line Road., Keysville. Lunch will follow. All are welcome.

AUGUST 12-15

HOMECOMING AND REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at Sharon Baptist Church in Cumberland beginning Sunday followed by a fellowship dinner. There will be no afternoon service. The guest preacher for Monday through Wednesday will be the Rev. Gary Harmon, Pastor of Level Run Baptist Church, Hurt. Prayer and praise service will begin at 7 p.m. followed by worship service at 7:30 p.m.

AUGUST 19

HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. There will be no afternoon service.
