4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION, 4 p.m. at Meherrin Fire Station. Stew will be ready at 11 a.m. Entertainment will be provided by Step Back Band. Free admission. Boot drive at the gate. Fireworks display at dusk. Alcohol and pets are prohibited.

WORKSHOP, 9 a.m. sponsored by The Women’s Ministry of Sharon Baptist Church followed by a continental breakfast. Facilitator will be Elder Rozena Jackson and will be the guest preacher for Women’s Day on Sunday. Sharon Baptist is located on Plank Road in Cumberland.

PAMPLIN DEPOT BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. at the Pamplin Train Depot. Special guest artists this month are Fox and the Bear. Fox and the Bear is a unique indie alternative folk sister duo. The concert and dance are free.

HOMECOMING AND REVIVAL, 11 a.m. at Monroe Baptist Church preached by Rev. G. Wilson Monroe. Lunch will be served. The Rev. C.L. Hobbs Jr. from the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, Kenbridge, will bring forth the word at 2:30 p.m.. Revival services will begin on Monday, with prayer and praise service starting at 7:30 p.m. and the preached word at 8 p.m. nightly. There will be different speakers and choirs each night. HOMECOMING, 9 a.m. at White Rock AME Zion Church, 1123 Lew Jones Road, Alberta. Breakfast will be served after the planting of the Mustard Seed tree. Afternoon service guest will be the Rev. Terrance Gregory, pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist, Adams Grove. Meal will follow.

OPEN TRAIL NIGHTS, 9-11 p.m. at High Bridge Trail State Park between Farmville and River Road. The public is welcome to walk or ride the trail under the light of the full moon. The closest access to High Bridge is from the Camp Paradise parking area in Prince Edward County.
