The Prospect Historical Society members are selling raffle tickets for a 32-inch flat screen TV; $50 gas card; and $25 in cash. The drawing will take place at their July meeting. You may get tickets from any member or at Merk’s Place.

The Prospect Fire Department Auxiliary will be serving their chicken dinner on Saturday, May 17, from 5 to 7 p.m., cost is a donation. There will be eat-in or carry out.

PFC Andrew Aimesburg and his mother, Karen Kelsey from New Hampshire visited relatives, especially his grandmother Peggy Kelsey, here last week. He had been on leave and was returning to his base at Hunter Army Airfield at Savannah, GA.

Peggy Kelsey joined her sister Polly Duncan at Concord Baptist Church on Sunday. They enjoyed a luncheon and baby shower for Kemper and Becky Beasley. Later they visited their home and enjoyed seeing the beautiful addition to the home.

Don and Betty Meadows attended the Heart of Virginia Festival on Saturday.

The United Daughter of the Confederacy Farmville No. 45 and the Sons of the Confederacy, High Bridge Camp No. 1581 will sponsor the Memorial Day service May 26 at 11 a.m. to be held at the Confederate Cemetery across the bridge of the Appomattox River. The speaker will be Mrs. Linda Lipscomb from the museum of the Confederacy at Appomattox.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton met Monday morning for fellowship and breakfast at Merk’s Place. Following breakfast the Meadows drove to Richmond and the Stocktons went shopping.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited Mrs. Edna Woodson and Mrs. Ruth Southall at Holly Manor May 1. Edna is always so happy to see Flora. Edna and Ruth were both doing well.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited Mrs. Frances Bolt and daughter Marsha Bolt at Rice May 4 after Flora having lunch with Dale and Judy Bolt and children Jennifer and Chris.

“No Walls” of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church at Prospect was well attended May 3. The event started with a hot dog lunch followed by games and volleyball; on Sunday the event ended with a luncheon followed by a talent show. A great time was had by all.

Shirley Fulcher, Nancy Motley and Judy Motley enjoyed the Heart of Virginia Festival.

A speedy recovery is being wished for Raymond Dickerson, Shirley Moore, Julian Covington as well as all those who are sick.
