Knights win season opener, 62-34

Buckingham County High School’s varsity boys basketball team opened its season with a 62-34 home win over Amelia County High School on Tuesday.

The Knights were led in scoring by freshman guard Amari Toney and senior guard Javon Chambers, who produced 10 points apiece.

Junior forward Deamonte Lassenberry and sophomore guard Trevor Kelly added nine points, while freshman forward Gerry Toney recorded 12 rebounds.

Buckingham (1-0) travels Friday to play Central Lunenburg High School with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
