TRIAD holds open house

Recently, TRIAD of Buckingham County hosted an Open House at their new location, which is the VFW Hall on Route 60 just outside Buckingham Court House. TRIAD is a combination of Seniors, Law Enforcement and Community who are interested in making the public aware of scams, activities for seniors, as well as community involvement geared to the aging population. They also make the community aware of resources available to Seniors to assure their safety and well-being. They meet every second Thursday at the VFW Hall at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to all meetings.

Cedar Baptist Church, located at 3932 Bell Road in Dillwyn, invites everyone to their Christmas program, “Jingle Bell Beach,” on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. with refreshments to be served.

Concord Baptist Church is hosting a Lottie Moon dinner on Sunday, at 5 p.m. Lottie Moon is a mission program that supports overseas missionaries who spread the word of the gospel and Jesus Christ. Enjoy a spaghetti dinner, by donation, and program at the church located at the intersection of Francisco and Deer Run Roads.

The Christian Outreach Program and Pregnancy Center (COPPC) in Arvonia wants to thank all of their customers for their continued love and support… and what better way than to have a huge sale, door prizes, raffles, snacks, drinks and much more. Customer appreciation day at the Christian Outreach Thrift Store will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. They would not be able to do what they do without community support, so this is your day come by and see them and you will be glad you did. COPPC is a life affirming, non-denominational, not-for-profit Christian ministry, offering love and practical help.

The Buckingham High School Horticulture Department is having a poinsettia sale. Varieties include red, white, pink and pink variegated. Contact Mrs. Casey Dunkum Davis at (434) 969-6100 ext. 102. Greenhouse hours are 9 a.m.-3:45 p.m. weekdays. The sale will run from Dec. 1-14.

If you think you are eligible to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Buckingham Post 8446, you and your spouse are invited to a free dinner Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Buckingham Veterans Hall, 14405 W. James Anderson Highway in Buckingham. There will be recruiters on hand to help you fill out your application for membership. First year’s dues will be paid by the post. Remember to bring a copy of your DD214 with you as this document determines your eligibility. Curdsville Community Center, located at 122 School Road, Route 633, Curdsville, will be hosting their annual Christmas dinner on Monday, at 6:30 p.m. Dillwyn Baptist Church choir will be singing Christmas carols to bring in the holiday season. Community members are asked to bring a favorite side/ covered dish or dessert, as meat entrée will be provided. Everyone is invited. Attendees are requested to bring unwrapped Christmas gifts for the residents of Heritage Hall nursing home, such as a deck of cards, handkerchiefs, tissues, socks, books, hygiene items, etc. For more information, contact Marie Flowers at (434) 315-0152 or Becky Bowling at (434) 392-3298.
