Frances Slayton Anderson

Frances Slayton Anderson, 88, of Tuggle Road, Farmville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 2, 2017, at her residence.

She was born in Prince Edward County, on August 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Edna Pearl Bartholomew and Millard Harvey Slayton.  She was predeceased by her first husband, Paul Otis Johnson; her second husband, Clovis Swanson Anderson; and her brother, Claude Slayton.

Frances was a member of Farmville Church of Christ. In 1946, she graduated from Mayfair Beauty Academy and was a beautician for 66 years. She loved to travel, having traveled the United States many times, Europe and the Holy Land.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Bob Card, of Pamplin; two grandchildren, Thomas Card and wife, Haley, of Middlesex, North Carolina, and Jesse Card, of Altavista; two great-grandchildren, Zoey Card and Bobby Card, IV;  and two nieces, Jeanette S. Johnstone,  and husband, Kin and their children, Margaret and John, and Rebecca S. Roth.

A funeral service was held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Farmville Church of Christ by the Pastor James Price. Burial followed in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 1099, Pamplin, Virginia 23958; Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad, 500 Doswell St., Farmville, Virginia 23901; Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 145, Prospect, Virginia 23960; or the SPCA of Meherrin, 7352 Patrick Henry Hwy., Meherrin, Virginia 23954.

The family appreciates the care of Centra Hospice and her caregivers, Agnes Loveday and Caryn Prince.
