Annual meatloaf supper set

The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will host its annual meatloaf supper June 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Prospect Firehouse.

The meal will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, bread, tea, lemonade and dessert, all for a donation at the door. Come on out in support of the fire department, enjoy a delicious supper and met with family and friends for a wonderful evening.

The U.D.C. Farmville Chapter 45, along with the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, High Bridge Camp 1581, sponsored the Memorial Day Celebration Service on May 29 at the Confederate Cemetery. The speaker was Teresa Roane, who spoke on “Why Confederate History is Relevant Today” and on “Our Confederate History Matters.” UDC members present were Mrs. Susan Reynolds, Mrs. Kathryn Powell, Mrs. Deserae Bowling, Mrs. Ann Buckham, Mrs. Frances Giles, Mrs. Lynne Pridgen, Mrs. Marie Self and Mrs. Flora Bolt.

Mrs. Norah Smith, Mrs. Carol Fauci, Mrs. Karen Gehrlein and Mrs. Betty Meadows were among the many that attended the tea at St. Theresa Catholic Church Sunday afternoon. The food was delicious, the entertainment great and the fellowship delightful.

Mrs. Flora Bolt enjoyed lunch Sunday at the home of Mrs. Judy Bolt and her son Chris, also attending was Mrs. Judy Bolt Jones; later Flora visited Lucille and Martha Alice at Brookview.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows met with friends Shirley and George Moore, Richard and Margaret Stockton and Larry and Barbara Whitehead on Friday at Merk’s Place for supper. They enjoyed the food as well as the very good fellowship.

The descendants of Lavaulette and Margaret Price Penick met on Saturday at Fuqua School for a family reunion. The attendance was very low. Jason and Jennifer Christopher, Emily and Lily traveled the furthest as they came from Maryland. Gene and Frances Ann Motley came from Hampton, Gwen Paulson, Michelle Paulson and Tori came from Chester, Lon and Mary Jo Stockton and son Sean came from Farmville and Richard and Margaret Stockton came from Tuggle. Everyone had a great time, some went swimming and Sean taught the rest of us to play “Mexican Train” Dominoes.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Peggy Kelsey, Frances Southall, Charles Southall, Sr., Gary Fiscus, Jean P. Derrenbacker, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

Neighbors and friends are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of Mrs. Grace Repass. Her funeral was held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Buckingham County.

The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to worship with them each Sunday. The Rev. Buddy Woodson will be the guest speaker Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites the community to come and worship with them every Sunday. Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites others to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite people to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church is located at 302 Industrial Park Road, in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.
