College students improve our community

It was great seeing so many Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) students out and about in the community last Saturday. The students took to schools, the woods behind Prince Edward County High School (PECHS), the FACES Food Pantry and many other locations, picking up trash, landscaping and performing various other tasks as part of the college’s annual Big Event, a day of service where students give back to the community. Longwood University will soon undertake the same day of service, helping the less fortunate in Farmville and across the Heart of Virginia. Pictured, H-SC students practice their team-building skills while testing out the low ropes course, part of the outdoor classroom behind PECHS.
