The Woman’s Club of Buckingham County GFWC will hold its annual fundraiser, “Curious Corner Store,” for the 36th year. First held in 1980 in a small corner store and later at the old firehouse in Dillwyn, the event is now held at the VFW Hall, 14405 W. James Anderson Hwy. (Route 60), in Buckingham. Curious Corner Store opens on Friday, Oct. 28, and runs until Wednesday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., each day, excluding Sunday.

The store will feature nearly new clothing, household items, some furniture, Christmas items, fresh Georgia pecans, fresh Christmas wreaths from Foxfire Farm, Rada knives, fresh baked goods and a large raffle. Lunch will be served on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with desserts and beverages served each day. There is something for everyone. Proceeds from the store are distributed throughout the community. The club looks forward to friends and neighbors of the community coming together for its only fundraiser.

For 17 years there has been a Spooky Hollow Drive Thru at the Historic Village in Buckingham. Volunteers are now needed to help make this event another success on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 7-9 p.m. Volunteers are being sought Saturday morning to help decorate for this event, to participate as actors or to help clean up the afternoon of Oct. 30. Profits from this event go toward the Village building fund. Call Martha Louis at (434) 547-2296 for more information.
