Dr. Ray Gaskins’ series featuring the World War I veterans was very informative (“World War I and the Farmville American Legion”).

I had a great uncle, Letcher Simpson, who served in World War I. The most informative part of the article was learning about Pvt. Bliss. The Simpsons bought the Bliss Farm in 1919. We knew the Bliss’ to be a prominent family in Farmville, running the Flower Mill at the turn of the century. We never knew what happened to the family until now.

Thank you and God bless the Bliss family legacy, another family who paid the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.
