Join writer/director Eddie Mullins for a screening and discussion of his critically acclaimed 2013 film “Doomsdays” at the LCVA Friday.

Described as “…a funny, precisely calibrated first feature from former critic” by Ben Kenigsberg of Variety and an “…enjoyably antisocial comedy…” by The Hollywood Reporter’s John DeFore, “Doomsdays” is a pre-apocalyptic comedy that follows the misadventures of Dirty Fred (Justin Rice) and Bruho (Leo Fitzpatrick), a pair of free-wheeling squatters with a taste for unoccupied vacation homes in the Catskills. Their commitment to the lifestyle is challenged, however, when a runaway teen and an aimless young woman join their ranks.

Mullins, a former film critic, has spent the past several weeks teaching a script writing class at Longwood University.

“Having grown up in Virginia, I consider it a privilege and a pleasure to come back and teach a film class at Longwood,” Mullins remarks. “Movies are my passion, and sharing that passion with students and members of the Farmville community has proved enormously fulfilling.”

Mullins will remain in the area this summer while he develops the script and scouts Richmond area locations for his next feature film.

“Doomsdays” screening and discussion will take place in the lower level of LCVA immediately following its Summer Wine & Brew night on Friday. Doors open at 5 p.m. for Summer Wine & Brew with the screening at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to all. No registration is required.
